Repuso API - Terms of Service & Fair Use (DRAFT)
Draft 2026-08-06 for legal review before launch. Applies to the Repuso API (api.repuso.com/public/v1) under both Monitoring plans and platform plans with API access. Supplements the general Repuso Terms of Service; where they conflict for API usage, these terms control.
1. API access and keys
- API keys are issued per account and are confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your keys, including keys you issue to systems you operate for clients.
- Do not embed API keys in client-side code (browsers, mobile apps) or public repositories. Compromised keys should be rotated immediately; Repuso may rotate or suspend keys showing signs of compromise.
- One account per organization. Creating multiple accounts or trials to circumvent limits, quotas or pricing is prohibited.
2. Plans, quotas and rate limits
- Each plan includes a monthly request quota and per-plan rate limits, published in the API documentation and returned in response headers.
- Usage beyond the included quota is billed at the published overage rate. A spend cap (adjustable in your account) limits overage exposure; requests beyond the cap are rejected until the cap is raised or the period resets.
- Rate limits protect the service for all customers. Sustained attempts to evade them (key cycling, distributed clients presenting as one) are a violation of these terms.
3. Review data and monitoring
- Monitoring profiles collect publicly available review content - reviews, ratings and profile metadata visible to any visitor of the source platform - on a scheduled basis.
- You may monitor profiles you do not own or operate (for example, competitors or market research subjects). Public availability of the data does not transfer ownership: review content belongs to its authors and/or the source platforms, and your use of it must comply with applicable law in your jurisdiction.
- Repuso provides the data "as retrieved". Source platforms may change, remove or restrict content at any time; Repuso does not guarantee completeness or continued availability of any source.
4. Fair use
The API is sold as a per-profile monitoring subscription, not a bulk data feed. The following are outside fair use:
- Systematic harvesting across profiles for the purpose of assembling, reselling or redistributing a review dataset or a competing data product.
- Sharing one subscription's data across multiple organizations, or operating a proxy service that resells raw API responses.
- Adding profiles solely to extract their history and removing them in a rotating pattern designed to convert a monitoring subscription into bulk export.
- Any use of review content to train systems whose primary purpose is to generate fake reviews.
Displaying, analyzing and storing the data **within your own products and for your own clients** - dashboards, alerts, embedded widgets, reports, internal analytics - is exactly what the API is for.
5. Review invitations (platform plans)
- Invitations may only be sent to your own customers or the customers of clients you manage, with a lawful basis to contact them. Purchased lists and unsolicited bulk messaging are prohibited.
- You are responsible for compliance with applicable messaging law (CAN-SPAM, GDPR, TCPA and local equivalents) for recipients you upload.
- Incentivized or gated review collection must comply with the policies of the destination platform.
6. Webhooks
- Webhook endpoints you register must be under your control. Deliveries are signed; verifying signatures is your responsibility.
- Repeatedly failing endpoints may be automatically disabled after the documented retry schedule.
7. Service levels
- The API is provided without a guaranteed SLA on standard plans. Current and historical availability is published on the status page.
- Crawl frequency is a target, not a guarantee; actual refresh timing varies with source platform behavior.
- Repuso may throttle, queue or temporarily suspend crawling of specific source platforms when required for technical or legal reasons.
8. Data retention
- Review data collected for a profile remains available while the profile is subscribed. After subscription or trial expiry, account data is retained for a limited wind-down period (currently ~30 days) and then purged.
- On written request, account data is deleted earlier in accordance with the privacy policy.
9. Suspension and termination
Repuso may suspend or terminate API access for violation of these terms, non-payment past the dunning period, or use that threatens service integrity. Where practical, Repuso will give notice and an opportunity to cure before termination.
10. Changes
Repuso may update these terms and the fair-use rules. Material changes are announced by email to the account owner at least 14 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date is acceptance.
